Orbea are a Basque bike maker with roots going back to 1840, and the brand's approach to electric bikes is refreshingly clear-headed: pick the right motor for the job, keep the weight low and central, and make sure the bike still rides like a bike. That means no single drive system across the range. You will find DJI Avinox, Bosch, Shimano, TQ and Mahle motors here, each chosen because it suits the bike it sits in rather than because of a supply deal.

The result is one of the broadest e-bike line-ups on the market, from 170mm full-power enduro machines to lightweight trail bikes that feel almost analogue, plus e-gravel, e-road and city bikes. Nearly every model can be personalised through Orbea's MyO programme, so you can choose your own colours and finish, and frames are covered by a lifetime warranty.

Electric mountain bikes

The e-MTB range splits neatly into two camps. Full-power bikes (Wild) give you maximum torque and battery capacity for big days and repeat laps. Lightweight bikes (Rise, Rallon RS) trade outright power for a lower weight and a more natural ride feel, so they handle much closer to a normal mountain bike. Neither is better, they just suit different riders and different trails.

Wild LT

The long-travel flagship. 170mm front and rear on an OMR carbon or alloy chassis, with suspension kinematics developed alongside the Rallon race bike. The headline is the DJI Avinox M2S motor: up to 130Nm of torque (150Nm in Superboost) and 750W of power, with an 800Wh battery as standard or a lighter 600Wh option. Available in full 29in or mullet, each with its own dedicated linkage so the geometry stays right, and complete builds start from under 21kg. This is the one for enduro riders and anyone who wants a bike that climbs anything and descends like a gravity bike.

Wild TR

The trail-focused Wild. 150mm of travel front and rear, built around the same braced frame, and powered by Bosch's Gen 5 Performance Line CX motor with up to 750W and 120Nm. Battery options are 600Wh or 750Wh, with an optional 250Wh Range Extender taking you to 1000Wh for the really long days. It is the more balanced, more playful of the two full-power bikes, with room for up to a 240mm dropper on larger sizes. A good choice if most of your riding is trail centres, local loops and all-day rides rather than uplift and race tracks.

Rise LT

Lightweight assistance with gravity intentions. Around 150mm at the rear and a 160mm fork, slacker geometry than the SL, and a Shimano EP600 RS motor tuned for quiet, natural delivery with a 420Wh or 630Wh internal battery. Carbon and alloy frames are available. Rise LT is for riders who want the agility and ride feel of a light e-bike but still want to push hard on steep, rough descents.

Rise SL

The "more bike, less e" option. 140mm of travel, the same quiet EP600 RS drive unit, and a low overall weight that makes it feel lively on the climbs and genuinely playful on the way back down. If you still want to work for your ride and just need the day extended rather than the effort removed, this is the one. Carbon OMR and alloy frames, 420Wh or 630Wh battery.

Rallon RS

The most advanced bike in the range, and something genuinely new. It takes the race-proven Rallon enduro chassis (180mm fork, 170mm rear, OMR carbon) and adds a fully integrated smart system where the motor, suspension, dropper and shifting all talk to each other and run from a single battery. The near-silent TQ HPR40 motor gives 40Nm and up to 200W of subtle assistance that supports your effort on the climbs and backs off on the descents, and the whole system adds only around 1.3kg over a standard Rallon. Available in 29in or mullet, with an optional Range Extender.

Electric road, gravel and city

Away from the trails, the same thinking applies. Denna is a lightweight electric gravel bike with a Shimano drive unit and a hidden 420Wh battery, drop-bar geometry and proper tyre clearance, so it rides like a gravel bike first. Gain is the endurance e-road bike, using a discreet Mahle X20 hub motor and a 350Wh battery to flatten hills without changing how the bike looks or handles, with clearance for tyres up to 35c.

For getting around town, Diem is the premium city e-bike, with a patented Diamond Glide flex frame, 85Nm Shimano EP drive unit, batteries up to 630Wh, integrated lighting and a choice of belt or chain drivetrains. Carpe is the lighter, more compact urban option, with the same 85Nm punch from a 420Wh system, an ABUS frame lock, mudguards and a space-saving rotating stem on the Carpe 10.

Not sure which one?

If you are choosing between full-power and lightweight, it usually comes down to how you ride rather than how fit you are. Full-power bikes suit riders doing big climbing days, shuttling laps or riding with a mixed-ability group. Lightweight bikes suit riders who want their e-bike to feel like their normal bike, and who are happy to put in a bit more of the work.
