  • Manitou Mezzer Expert Fork Black / 29 x 160mm (44mm offset) / 15 x 110mm

Description

Featuring 37mm stanchions, home mechanic approved travel adjustability from 180mm to 140mm, and Manitou's easy to use VTT-6P damper, the Mezzer Expert is the smart choice for anyone looking to dive into the Enduro Fork market.

Should you later decide you would like more adjustability from your fork, factory upgrades such as IRT and MC2 are available and can be easily installed in your own garage.

At 2030g this fork is the second lightest option available within the Enduro fork market, second only to the Mezzer Pro of course.

Review: All in all, the Manitou Mezzer Expert is a standout product amongst aftermarket suspension manufacturers. Excellent support makes for easy work of slow, steep technical sections of trail, and the stiff chassis helps keep the front end of the bike composed in hard cornering and off-camber sections. The small bump falls behind many of the more nuanced dampers in other forks, but if you prioritize consistent feel throughout travel over all-out speed, then this fork is for you. The Loam Wolf.

The Manitou Mezzer Expert fork allows for easy travel adjustment between 140mm and 180mm, by adding or removing spacers within the air spring assembly. This adjustment can be done with basic tools:

  • Ensure all air pressure is released from both the main air spring and the IRT (if applicable).
  • Remove the top cap and carefully extract the air spring assembly.
  • Remove or add the supplied travel spacers to achieve the desired travel setting.
  • Reinstall the air spring, top cap, and inflate the fork.

Features

  • Adjustable travel - easily change the travel between 140-180mm using the included spacers. If you need a 170mm fork and we only have 180s then you can change it yourself!
  • 37mm stanchions, Reverse Arch design, and Hexlock SL2 axle combined together result in ultimate stiffness
  • Expert Air offers ultimate sensitivity featuring a self-equalizing negative air spring.
  • IVA (Incremental Volume Adjuster) allows you to modify your positive air chamber volume by rearranging self contained spacers. You'll never lose a volume spacer again.
  • VTT-6P damper provides 6 easy clicks to dial in your damping for all types of terrain.
  • Integrated fender can be installed/removed by three small screws threaded into the arch of the fork.
  • TSR (Trail Side Relief) valves on the back of the lower legs allow you to bleed off built up air within the lower legs to keep things butter smooth between service intervals

The best. For some odd reason it’s under the radar.

I’ve tried all the main Enduro forks except the latest Zeb.

I have had 32 MTBs over 30years of mountain biking.

I’m a real suspension and tuning geek.

The fact of the matter is the Mezzer Pro, or the expert with the £75 IRT installed, is the lightest, as stiff as the stiffest, and has certainly the best suspension performance. The small bump is like a coil. You hand’s weight will move it. The support is completely tunable to your liking with the IRT so you can tune it soft or super rampy and bottomless. The damper on the Expert is great, with each of 5 steps from 0 adding more big hit control, on to a complete lockout, should you need it.

Any writer who doesn’t immediately see this forks class-leading performance is biased. It’s so clearly better, it should be the obvious choice for so many folks, especially as you can adjust it, quickly and for free, from 140mm to 180mm.

For those in the know, Manitou forks lead the way.

Brag yourself a bargain; you’ll forever be converted.

The reverse arch, the IRT and the Hexloxk axle are all beautiful bits of efficient engineering.

If I paid new Ohlins money I’d be delighted. But at £400 plus the £75 IRT it’s one of the great deals in the history of MTB.

    Excellent Fork

Firstly, it's great so see a UK retailer stocking Manitou products again.

The Mezzer is a beast of a fork. I've had the Pro version for a few years and thought I'd give the Expert a go on another bike because Bijetart were offering them at an unbeatable price.

I can't really comment on the IVA system as I upgraded to IRT instead for the full Dorado experience but the VTT damper on this Expert is fantastic. It's not got the same level of adjustability as the Pro but as yet, I haven't felt the need to change anything.

This fork is super stiff, supportive when you need it to be and active when it needs to be. The damper functions beautifully and HBO works amazing well. It's a fair bit lighter than the equivalent from Fox and Rockshox too.

For £400 it's an absolute steal. Budget an extra £50 for the IRT upgrade and you'll have an amazing fork.
