I’m currently running a 2.6 Barzo front with a Mezcal rear. I bought the ‘E’-Barzo because that’s what was available and I couldn’t separate it from a ‘standard’ Barzo in terms of performance, it’s honestly been fantastic. It’s far grippier than I thought it would be, great on everything XC I’ve tried plus some quite sporty off-road touring/bikepacking. It reaches its limits at high lean angles on loamy track or in proper mud but only when I’m really pushing a loaded bike and let’s be honest, it’s an XC tyre so that’s fair enough. I’d highly recommend you use the Vittoria’s online pressure calculator. For my use and weight (75kg) it recommended 18-19psi and that’s been perfect. Conforms to the ground, grips really well, handles everything up to sloppy mud with confidence, and I don’t know what they put in those sidewalls but it’s SUPER plush. Might try it on the rear with something chunkier on the front come winter, if the tread is still good, but for summer I’m finding the Barzo front / Mezcal rear combo can take anything I throw at it… and I throw quite a lot! 😁
