Description

The Thomson Masterpiece Setback Seatpost is crafted to be over 40% stronger than the toughest seatposts available. It is designed to be lightweight, shedding approximately 40g compared to the same size Elite post, without compromising on the strength and durability that Thomson is known for.

This weight reduction is achieved through precise machining of the entire seatpost, including the oval inner diameter. This method allows for tighter tolerances than extrusion alone, making the Thomson Masterpiece Setback Seatpost not just functional, but also a piece of art.

Key Features:

  • Certified to: EN 14766 2006 MTB
  • Integral-machined from a single piece of high-strength 7000 series aluminium
  • Long 1.614 inch (41 mm) seat rail grip length to prevent bending from impact
  • Incorporates a bending fuse to avoid catastrophic failure
  • Clamp head and upper tube withstand up to 325 foot-lbs of torque
  • Begins to yield at about 230 foot-lbs of torque, allowing for controlled bending
  • All parts are captive for easy seat attachment without disassembly
  • Infinite tilt adjustment from -5° to +29°
  • Low profile clamps to prevent seat interference

The tube and head of the Thomson Masterpiece Setback Seatpost are machined from a single piece of aluminium, ensuring superior strength and minimal weight. The design includes a long seat rail grip length, which helps prevent bending from impact loads, a feature that sets it apart from other seatposts.

Thomson's ongoing testing programme ensures that each production batch meets their high standards, with designs and materials passing extensive life and strength tests. This seatpost is built to withstand severe impacts, bending slightly to allow the rider to stop safely or continue riding.
