Silca's original Super Secret Chain Lube did more than most to convince riders that drip wax was a serious option rather than a novelty. Super Secret 2.0 is the follow-up, developed and validated over several seasons with Team Visma | Lease a Bike, and it closes most of the remaining gap between a drip bottle and a full hot-melt wax bath.

The formula keeps the nano-scale Tungsten Disulfide (WS2) that made the original so slippery, but pairs it with smaller wax particles, a reworked emulsified wax base and a new set of fullerene friction modifiers. That combination lets the coating sit more evenly across the chain surface, and Silca measure a further 0.6 to 0.8 watts saved over version 1.0, taking it up to around 7 watts saved against conventional lubes.

Longevity is where you will notice it most day to day. A single application now lasts 350 to 400km (roughly 220 to 250 miles) before the chain starts to get noisy, about 20% further than the original and on par with Silca's Secret Chain Blend hot wax. Wet-weather life has doubled over version 1.0, so a proper soggy winter ride no longer strips the coating in one hit.

It stays clean to the touch, sheds grit rather than collecting it, and runs quietly. One thing worth knowing before you order: 2.0 wants a longer cure than the original did. Give it at least four hours before riding, and overnight if you can plan around it.
