The PD-R8200 brings the new SPD-SLR system to Ultegra. Mechanically it works exactly as the Dura-Ace PD-R9300 does: the pedal body and cleat were designed as one system, and the result is a stack height 2.3mm lower than the SPD-SL pedal it replaces, so the ball of your foot sits closer to the axle and the connection feels more direct under load.

The same engagement changes carry over. The cleat catch is wider and the pedal hangs at a narrower 10.9° instead of 15.5°, which takes 4.6° out of the angle you have to find when you clip in, so it goes in first time more often. The rear of the cleat is thinner, which makes walking to and from the bike less awkward. And because the shoe seats into the pedal rather than on top of it, there is no gap and no wobble when you put power down.

Carbon composite body, sold as a pair, cleats sold separately. A 4mm longer axle version is available for riders who need more stance width.
