Nice for the road bike
I just don't like walking like a penguin when I'm off the bike, so pefer recessed SPD shoes. But you then need to find some suitable pedals that aren't for mountain bikes which is where these pedals suit nicely. A small size and single sided, they don't look out of place on the road bike. Easy to flip and expose the correct side. Good tension on the cleat. Also easy to pop out, flip over to allow a nice dismount for triathlon.
