Next best to my old ME7 shoes

A crash brought a premature end to my Shimano ME7 shoes but I just couldn’t find anymore around in my size. I looked at several other options and purchased the GE9 which is currently the nearest to the ME7. Reviews of GE9 were mixed compared to the ME7 but a couple of rides in and yes they do the job pretty well. It was suggested to size down to a Eu 43 from the Eu 44 of my ME7 & my Shimano MW7 winter boots, my actual foot size is 43.5. I found this to be good advice as they are slightly wider in the forefoot. The Boa & Velcro strap combine well to keep my foot snug and my narrow heels in place - heel lift for me, especially when walking, is a problem in many cycling shoes. Clipping into SPD cleats seems to work better and peddling if you fail to clip in is definitely improved over the ME7 otherwise the sole tread is not quite as good as the ME7 in mud.

I ride mainly natural & rough trails in the English Lake District with some ‘hike a bike’ on most rides. Whilst the ME7 is still my preference I am pretty happy with the GE9 for my riding.

Ordering & delivery from Biketart was smooth & quick.
