The RockShox Pike has been the go-to trail fork for well over a decade, and the Base model brings that chassis and feel to a price that makes sense for most riders. It sits at the lighter, more nimble end of the trail spectrum: 35mm stanchions, a tapered-wall aluminium build and magnesium lowers that stay composed on rough ground without the extra heft of a longer-travel enduro fork.
Inside is the Rush RC damper, a simpler take on the brand's trail damping with external low-speed compression and rebound adjustment. It gives you the two dials that actually matter day to day: enough compression control to firm things up for climbs and smoother trails, and rebound to stop the fork feeling harsh or wallowy. Paired with it is the DebonAir+ air spring, which is the same spring found further up the range. It sits into its travel properly at the start of the stroke for grip, then builds support through the middle so the front end doesn't dive under braking.
Both are running Maxima Plush Dynamic Suspension Lube, which cuts friction and keeps the fork feeling consistent for longer between services. Bolt-in torque cap adapters are included, so it works with hubs whether or not they have torque caps fitted, and there's a bolt-on mount for a short fender if you ride in the wet.
This is the 29" 140mm version with a 15x110mm Boost axle, 44mm offset and a tapered steerer, which covers the majority of modern trail bikes. It's also e-bike approved, so it's a sensible upgrade or replacement for a lighter electric trail bike as well as an analogue one.
