The MX14 is Ridgeback's 14" first pedal bike for riders aged roughly 2.5 to 4 years old (90-102cm tall, 37-44cm inside leg). It's built around a lightweight alloy frame and, at 7kg, it's far easier for a small child to handle and pedal than the 8-9kg steel-framed bikes often found at this size.
Everything is scaled for small riders rather than simply shrunk from an adult bike. Short 75mm cranks sit closer together for a smooth, natural pedal stroke, the bars and grips are narrower in diameter to suit small hands, and the Tektro levers are reach adjustable so little fingers can get to the brakes properly. A low frame makes getting on and off easy, a steering limiter helps prevent over-steering while they're learning to pedal and corner at the same time, and a full chain case keeps fingers and clothes away from the chain.
Compared with the Dimension 14, the MX14 uses a steel fork and simpler hubs and tyres to reach a lower price, but keeps exactly the same fit and comfort details - the parts that matter most for building confidence. Grippy Nutrak tyres let them explore paths and tracks, and the bike is backed by a transferable lifetime frame and fork warranty plus 2 years on parts.
