The Summum has been Mondraker's downhill weapon for well over a decade, and the 2027 R build keeps the formula honest: a hydroformed 6061 alloy frame, 200mm of travel at both ends, and a mixed-wheel layout that has become the default at World Cup level. It's the accessible way into the platform, and it gives up very little to the bikes above it where it counts.
The MX chassis runs a 29" wheel up front and a 27.5" at the rear. That's the setup most racers have settled on - the bigger front wheel rolls over square edges and holds a line through braking bumps, while the smaller rear stops the bike feeling long and lets you move it around in tight turns. Behind it sits the updated Zero Suspension System, using an alloy upper link with shock eyelet bearings to keep the rear end tracking under heavy braking.
Suspension is RockShox throughout: a Vivid Coil Select+ shock at 225x75mm with a coil spring matched to frame size (450 lbs on M, 500 lbs on L, 550 lbs on XL), paired with a Boxxer Select RC 29 fork running 200mm of DebonAir+ travel. Braking is SRAM Maven Base with a 220mm rotor up front and 200mm at the rear, which matters when you're dragging the brakes for two solid minutes.
A geometry kit comes in the box: +/- 5mm headset reach cups, a lower shock mount flip chip, and +5mm / -5mm dropouts. That gives you a real range of reach, bottom bracket height and chainstay length to suit the track rather than one fixed setting. The drivetrain is a 7-speed SRAM GX DH with an e*thirteen LG1+ chain device, and the wheels are DT Swiss F 1900 Classic rims on 370 hubs.
