The 7000 RS takes the platform in a different direction. Most of the range is built around carrying luggage and covering ground in comfort, whereas this one is aimed squarely at long gravel races, and the changes all point that way: a one-piece Vision 5D SMR bar and stem, an FSA ACR headset with the cables routed internally through it, and narrower bars than its stablemates at 380mm on the smaller sizes and 400mm on M and L.
The frame underneath is CF2 carbon II with Disc Cooler fins on the rear caliper mount, a threaded bottom bracket, a 142 x 12mm rear axle and clearance for 700 x 45c tyres. Crucially it keeps the Silex shape - long top tube, long head tube, short stem - so this is a race bike you can still stay on top of after eight hours, rather than a road frame with knobbly tyres squeezed in. Five sets of bottle bosses are there for the sort of event where feed stops are a long way apart.
Shifting is Shimano 1x12 with an RD-RX717 clutch rear derailleur in the long cage and a 10-51 CS-M6100 cassette, giving you mountain bike range on a drop bar bike. The crankset is a Rotor Vegast with a 42 tooth aero chainring on a BSA30 steel bottom bracket. Braking is Shimano hydraulic, with RS717 and RX715 levers and BR-RX410 calipers.
Fulcrum Soniq GR wheels run 12mm thru-axles front and rear and carry 45c Schwalbe G-One RX Performance tyres with RaceGuard protection. Finishing kit is a Team SL II carbon seatpost and an Expert SL II saddle with a minitool built into the mount.
