Simplicity is the point of the Crossway 20. Instead of a triple chainset it runs a single 40 tooth Shimano Essa ring with an 8-speed 11-45 cassette, so there is one shifter to think about, one cable to maintain and a little less weight to haul about. The 11-45 spread still gives a genuinely low gear for climbing, so nothing is lost on hilly commutes.
Underneath, it is the familiar TFS IV aluminium frame with internal routing, a sloping top tube for easy standover and mounts for a rack, mudguards and a kickstand. Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes take much less hand effort than cable discs, an 80mm SR Suntour XCS28 coil fork smooths out potholes and kerbs, and 700x45C Kenda Ambra tyres keep things comfortable. A 680mm aluminium bar and Comp TK grips and saddle round it off.
