The Rift Zone 2 packs genuine trail performance into an accessible package. It's built around the same 130mm MultiTrac suspension platform shared with Marin's range-topping trail bikes, wrapped in a Series 3 6061 aluminium frame that's equally at home threading tight forest singletrack or opening up on flowing trails.

This 27.5" build is aimed at smaller riders and anyone who prefers a nimble, flickable feel, with a 140mm Marzocchi Bomber Z2 fork up front and a Marzocchi Bomber air shock keeping the rear wheel tracking. It's a confidence-inspiring, easy-to-love trail bike that rewards riders as they progress.

The spec is impressively grown-up for the money. A Shimano Deore 12-speed drivetrain gives wide, reliable gearing, Tektro hydraulic disc brakes keep speed in check, and a TranzX travel-adjustable dropper post lets you get the saddle out of the way on descents. Grippy Maxxis Assegai and Minion DHR II tyres round out a bike that punches well above its price.
