DTE stands for Defy The Elements, the most protective tier in the range, built with the most durable materials and the highest level of weather protection for prolonged exposure to severe conditions. This is winter kit for riders who go out regardless.
The 3-layer fabric is rated 20,000mm for waterproofing and 20,000 g/m²/24hr for breathability, with fully waterproof construction and a fluorocarbon-free C0 DWR treatment so water beads and runs off rather than soaking into the face fabric. The bib section is waterproof too, with adjustable straps and its own pocket, which closes off the gap at your lower back that overtrousers always leave when you're stretched out on the bike.
The cut is relaxed without being baggy, built for all-day use. Stretch fabric and articulated knees mean the trousers move with you instead of binding at the top of the pedal stroke, and there's enough room to run knee pads underneath. Elasticated cuffs pull in neatly over shoes or boots. Three zipped pockets - chest, hip and thigh - keep essentials to hand, though the zips are highly water resistant rather than fully waterproof, so a phone is better off in a bag on a genuinely wet day.
Black is available in short, standard and long leg lengths across all five sizes, so you can get the inseam right rather than settling for the closest fit. Forest Green comes in standard leg only.
