    Wife managed to reset it without noting the combination!

    She was having difficulty closing it, probably because the rubber grommets had slipped down. But in her wisdom decided that someone had maliciously moved the reset lever (as opposed to wondering if she understood where the reset lever should be) so she moved the reset lever to see if that would help the lock close. She must have also moved some of the numbers while in reset mode. To be fair, I then moved the reset button back to where it should always have been and there were were with the combination changed and no way to recover it other than going through 10,000 combinations! So, the lock does what it should, but it's easy to render useless with a modest amount of ineptitude.

    My advice to the manufacturers would be to remove the text from the reset lever so that one had to actually read the instructions to find out what it does.
