As described, genuine Shimano. More importantly: they resent it after the Royal Mail delivered to the wrong address, so good customer service

I have used (and abused!) a good number of these bottom brackets over the years, fitted on road bikes, and MTBs.
Initially they always feel nice and smooth, and just spin away quietly doing their job... however, I've found that the seals can be a bit suspect (invairiably on the less protected, non-drive side) given a particularly good dousing in water, after say, a torrential rainstorm, or momentary ducking in flood water!
I have removed the bb, when it started knocking/grinding, after these occasions, and in the early days, found the centre tube (supplied with the bb) half full of water, and as a result, the bearings had been running in a water bath. As the tube is fitted with rubber sealing rings, the water could not escape.
As a result of these premature failures of the bb, I now throw the inner tube away (which enables any injested water to escape) and as a secondary precaution, drill a 1/8inch hole in the lowest point of any bikes bb shell. As a result, I've found the bb's last a lot longer.
The last bb bearing, which this new one has replaced, lasted about 4 years, of regular wet weather riding.
Just to put it in context, though... I've got an INTERNAL sealed square tapered bb, which has been in two different commutor bikes, and it is still spinning sweetly, with no play, after 20+ years!

At this great Biketart price why wouldn't you change your BB every couple of years or so? Never got to the stage where one 'fails', but don't to either!
