LIZARD SKINS LOCK-ON CHARGER
The Lizard Skins Charger bears a distinct resemblance to a mushroom that’s been neatly customised with the use of a straight edge and razor blade. Covered in rows of fine comb-like ribbing, with slots running horizontally along the bar for grip and around it for cushioning, the Lock-on Charger is slightly firmer than the standard version but still supremely comfortable.
It scrubbed up well after muddy rides too and gave us plenty to hold onto when things got slippery. Branding is subtle and integrated into the grip pattern. They’re available in a range of shades to colour-match your socks and the alloy lock-rings are laser etched with Lizard Skins logos. We’d like to see stainless fixing bolts though, as they went rusty after an over-enthusiastic hosing session, and also some classier bar end plugs than the plug-in plastic jobs supplied, which we lost after one ride.
VERDICT:
PERFORMANCE 9/10
VALUE 8/10
COMFORT 10/10
LIFE 10/10
MBUK April 2009
So Good… Lizard Skins are another brand to head to grip wizards ODI to manufacture their grips. The Charger is a very comfortable grip, with great control too. It uses a narrow diameter profile with a soft compound rubber and an interrupted, ribbed grip. The combination of the ribs and soft compound make them grippy in all conditions, as well as effective at damping vibrations.
No Good… They do squirm a little under the palm, rather than having a solid feel.

Dirt Mag March 09 – OUR NEW FAVOURITE GRIP
If you’ve been reading the mag backwards you will have already spotted a load of our favourite grips in the ‘Hammered’ section, but these Lizard Skin Chargers only turned up the other week, so we didn’t really feel that we could class them as hammered quite yet.
Anyway, we still felt we had to get them in the mag somewhere simply because even after just their first few outings they’ve become a strong contender the the office favourite. They’re just on the right side of skinny, they’re comfy even without gloves, but the best bit about them is the amount of grip they offer even when plastered In the finest Welsh mud.
Nigh on perfect grips in our opinion.
