Redesigned Carbon Technology Seat Stays
The wishbone seat stays have been redesigned with a slightly curved construction, as a result there is greater lateral stiffness and vertical compliance. Strong riders and sprinters will benefit from the extra lateral rigidity while comfort has been taken to a higher level.
Replaceable Aluminium Vertical Dropouts
The combination of a carbon rear triangle with replaceable aluminium vertical dropouts brings the best of both worlds together - the lightness you expect from a top level racing bike with the strength to resist a crash or rear derailleur failure.
Oversized Bottom Bracket
The massive bottom bracket guarantees the best possible power transfer, so every watt you put on the pedals is transformed into forward motion.
Tapered Oversized Headtube
The oversized, tapered head tube makes the front end much stiffer so the bike handles better and steers with extreme precision. The oversized lower bearings also help dampen the vibrations coming from the front wheel.
Aerodynamic Design
Both the front fork and the seat stays are aerodynamically designed to allow the bike to cut through the air more efficiently.
About Eddy Merckx
The name Eddy Merckx is one of the few that should need absolutely no introduction, even to non riders, After an unprecedented career, Eddy created his own cycle company in 1980, just 3 years after he stopped racing. It was an opportunity to get back into the business he loved, and the world he knew most about. The company started in an old farmhouse in Meise, near Brussels and little by little started producing top of the range racing bicycles. The company has grown significantly over the past 30 years and moved to a larger production facility, but one thing however hasn't changed, the attention to detail and love of bikes that everyone in the company shares.
Eddy has always been obsessed with bikes - in fact it wasn't unusual for him to get up in the middle of the night to change something on his handlebars or gears. Position, fit and feel are incredibly important for him - on his own bike and on those of others too. This innate understanding of how a bike should be (a result of talent and many years of experience) is key for the design of every Eddy Merckx bicycle.
The whole range of bikes has been designed with this philosophy in mind. Each bike is supremely comfortable to ride, and all deliver a true feel for the road, whilst the use of modern design, advanced materials and production techniques combine to give outstanding levels of lightness and strength.
